We are thrilled to see another Bungendore scout member receive recognition for the their role in scouts and in the wider community.

Evan is an outstanding young man, as anyone who knows him will attest to. A competent outdoor bushwalker, mountain biker and paddler, Evan is an accomplished musician and always contributing to scouting events in the community.

Evan began in scouts as a Joey (aged 5). He subsequently earnt the highest awards as he progressed through each age group: Joey Scout Challenge Award, Grey Wolf Award (Cubs), the Australian Scout Award and Bronze Medallion.

Evan often volunteers to assist younger scout members who may need some encouragement and a friendly face. He notably was a companion for a new Joey who was having trouble attending because he was worried about not knowing anyone. With Evan’s encouragement and chaperoning for two terms, the Joey was able to attend on his own for another two years.

Evan is an advocate for scouts in the community. While attending sausage sizzles at the IGA, or many other events, Evan takes the opportunity to talk to people about Scouts and how fortunate he is to be getting opportunities for personal growth and adventure because of his involvement.

Evan’s family are foster carers for children under 2 years of age. Evan is empathetic to new children coming in to care and quickly gains their trust. He helps them find a calm place in their disrupted lives and works with the rest of his family to manage their needs and the family’s sense of loss when a foster baby moves to their permanent home.

Evan is active in the school community volunteering to guide prospective new families around the school on Open Days and on Orientation days for new year 7 students. Evan travels with his school bands to other primary schools in his school area to perform music and meet primary school kids.

Evan attained Grade 8 drumming with First Class Honors in November 2024. He regular plays with a band at school and in the community. Look out for him!
