Joining Scouts
The Bungendore Scout Joey (5-8 yr) and Cub (8-11 yr) Sections are nearly always at capacity. We have a constant wait list for these sections so please contact us before trying to register. The Scout (11-14 yr) and Venturer (14-18 yr) Sections usually have spaces available immediately.
Before attending your first meeting, please send us an email to check availability of spaces and to recieve a program of upcoming activities from the respective Section leader. Whether a new member or a returning member, you need to register with us before attending your activity. This registration is so that contact and care information is available to the Leaders. Because of the wait lists in the Joey and Cub Sections, a registration link is only available by invitation. Please email us with an enquiry.
More information about what each age-group does is shown here.
Trial period for new members
Prospective new members can come along for up to six weeks to see what Scouts is like with no fees. If during the six-week trial period you decide you want to continue, you will be asked to pay membership fees that are outlined below.
Fees and other costs
Membership
The membership fees April 2026 to March 2027 are $300. There is a one-time fee of $60 for new members joining Scouts.
Fees can be paid in one traunche for 12 months or by installment.
Financial assitance is available and assessed on a case-by-case basis. If you need financial assistance for your child(ren) to attend scouts, please contact us to discuss your needs. Both NSW Scouts and the 1st Bungendore Group maintain funds to support youth to take part in scouting and can provide short or long term sponsorship of fees, uniforms and equipment. Conversations are best directed to the Leader of the section that your child attends, who will then intiate a confidential discussion with the Group Leader and the Chair of the Parent Committee. These matters are handled with discretion.
Weeknight activities
Weeknight activties can be held either at the scout hall or another location. There is often no charge to families for any weeknight activity.
Camping trips
There is often a camping trip in each school term for the Cubs, Scouts and Venturer sections. The cost of camping trips is charged to parents to cover food and camping fees. The cost for a weekend camp is typically less than $30 but is very activity dependent. Extended camping trips (>3 days) are associated with concerted fundraising activities and our policy is to maximise inclusion in more expensive trips through Group support.
Fees for Leaders, Committee Members and their families
The voluntary service of Leaders and Parent Committee members in runnning the Bungendore Scout Group is recognised through discounts on the fees for their children. Also, the cost for fully qualified Leaders to attend weekend camps, or major Australian and International scouting meetings (such as NSW Cuboree, Australian Jamboree, World Jamboree, etc) are paid for by the Group when that Leader is attending in a formal role.
Safety in Scouts

- All Scout Leaders are trained by Scouts Australia, a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) since 2003.
- Two or more adult Leaders are present at all Scouts activities.
- At least one adult Leader qualified in First Aid is present at all Scouts activities.
- Working with Children, Police and Reference Checks are carried out on every adult who applies to become a Leader. Working with Children Checks are also carried out on Adult Helpers. Working with Children Checks are regularly reviewed.
