Activity Overview

  • This is Charlotte's King Scout Adventurous Journey.  Open to all Venturers with Canoe Level 4 achievements or higher. The proposed distance is 46kms over four days, commencing at Brooman on the headwaters of the Clyde River, with overnight stops at  Shallow Crossing, Clyde River Camp Grounds and Red Gum Camp Ground.  The journey will be supported by leaders on the water who will shadow the youth members around 1 hr behind, but not assist unless an emergency arises. The activity will conclude at the Batemans Bay boat ramp on the south side of the river just upstream from the bridge.  

 

Preparation

  • Have satisfied the requirements of Paddling Stage 4 or greater.
  • Attend canoe theory nights 11th August 26/16th September 2026
  • Attend Practice Canoe Hike August 2026

Supervision

  • This activity will be conducted under indirect supervision. This paddle will be lead and run by a Venturer (Charlotte Payne). Charlotte has trained for and planned this paddle. Four experienced leaders will be travelling no more than 1 hour behind this group to provide transport and emergency assistance if required.
